Bode Bulfer is from Northfield, Minnesota, and started skiing when he was three years old. He began participating in tournaments at the age of five, and skied at Nationals when he was just seven. Bode’s confidence on the water has been steady, but got a boost in 2021 when he tied Nate Smith’s Midwest Regional Championship slalom record of 2.5 buoys at 32-off. One week later, in his final year of Boys 1 competition, Bode topped the National’s podium by winning gold in Slalom, Trick, and Overall. Bode has continued his winning streak at this year’s National Tournament in Maize, Kansas, winning gold in Boys 2 Slalom, Trick, Jump, and Overall. In Minnesota the water ski season is short so Bode must make the most of it by skiing almost every day the weather allows. Bode is in the frigid lake when the ice comes off in April and is still skiing into October despite the cold weather. An important reason for Bode’s success is his lifelong skiing partner and older brother George. The brothers push and help each other daily on the water; they are one another’s biggest support. ![]() ![]()
